Sarasota City Sidewalks

Sarasota residents writer and actress Kathryn Chesley and watercolorist Jerry Chesley collaborated to create an expression of the importance of sidewalks and roads to bring people to Sarasota. Completed in April 2021, this is one of four projects that celebrate the Sarasota County Centennial. 

Kathryn’s statement: As a writer, I love to bring my readers to see the world through my experience of the objects around us. This poem is written from the perspective of the sidewalk.

Jerry’s statement: In walking and exploring neighborhoods or riding along the streets and walkways, I find inspiration and endless possibilities to paint everyday places and people. My paintings reflect living in an exciting hub of visual experiences and beauty, which I feel is something all must enjoy.
